Final Environmental Impact Statement

Consistency Determination

On April 16, 2021 the Service submitted a new application for a Federal Consistency Determination to the California Coastal Commission. The final application document and its appendices are here.

On December 16, 2021 the California Coastal Commission voted in favor of finding the Service’s proposal consistent with the California Coastal Act and granted the Service a Consistency Determination.

Timeline

An abbreviated overview of the environmental planning process includes the following milestones:

  • 2004: Feasibility Study
  • 2006: EA Public Scoping
  • 2009: Comprehensive Conservation Plan
  • 2011: EIS Public Scoping
  • 2013: Draft EIS and public comments
  • 2019: Final EIS published
  • 2021: Federal Consistency Determination received from the California Coastal Commission
